The most recent trip that I took was to Oahu, Hawaii. I had never been to Hawaii before and absolutely fell in love with it! I have been dreaming of those soft sandy beaches and warm crystal blue water ever since, and my boyfriend and I are already scheming ways we can make another visit there soon 🙂
For now though, I’ll take a little trip down memory lane and share with you all 5 things you can do the next time you’re in Oahu.+ Hike Diamond Head
One morning we got up at 5:30am to make the popular hike up to the top of Diamond Head, a volcanic mountain that provides a breathtaking view of Waikiki. I am admittedly not much of a morning person, but it was definitely worth the morning workout to make it the top and be rewarded with such a lovely view. It gets crowded and the day gets hot pretty quickly, so I recommend getting an early start!+ Go zip lining
I’ll be honest, I was kind of on the fence about zip lining because of how expensive it is, but we decided to just go for it. I am so glad we did! We zip lined at Keana Farms, which had 8 different lines and stunning views. It was a really awesome, exhilarating experience!
+ Go to the KCC Farmer’s Market
After our hike at Diamond Head, we went to the KCC Farmer’s Market, which was conveniently just across the street! This isn’t really a typical farmer’s market that you would go to for your general produce shopping… It is more of a place you should go to when you’re hungry and can try foods from many different local food companies. It reminded me a bit like a street fair. They had such a variety of things like fresh juices and smoothies, poke, ice cream, pizza, burgers, fish, and other local treats.
+ Jump off the rock at Waimea Bay
I am not one who enjoys heights much, but I really enjoyed going to the beach at Waimea Bay and jumping off the huge rock there! I had seen photos of this beach and the rock, so when I got the opportunity to experience it for myself, I jumped at the chance (no pun intended). The jump is about 25 feet high and you land in a sandy bottom area that is about 10 feet deep. Even if you’re not up for the adrenaline rush, Waimea Bay is a nice beach and watching others jump off the rock is pretty entertaining.+ Snorkeling
We went snorkeling at a small beach on the North Shore and it was perfect! There were sea turtles out feeding on algae near the shore and we were able to get very up close and personal with them. One even accidentally bumped into me! We also saw some fish, but of course the sea turtles were the main attraction. We never got around to snorkeling more during our trip even though we wanted to (so many things to do and see!), though I highly recommend doing it at least once!
I could go on and on about how wonderful Hawaii is forever, but I will spare you and end things here! I just may get a bout of wanderlust and write another post filled with things to do–or better yet–things to eat when in Hawaii 🙂
Have you ever been to Hawaii? What were your favorite things that you did there?
